Don’t Forget – Pickering is on the edge of the North York Moors National Park and is an area of outstanding natural beauty. The Yorkshire coast has everything from quiet fishing villages to busy seaside resorts, bird sanctuaries to fun fairs, cliff walks and promenades. Pickering itself is home to the North Yorkshire Moors Railway with steam trains running to the village of Grosmont, Goathland (better known at Aidensfield in Heartbeat and Hogwarts Station in the Harry Potter films) and on to Whitby, which is the home of Captain Cook, and Dracula! Eden Camp wartime museum is just up the road and for those who seek the thrills of the big rides, there is Flamingo Land Zoo and Theme Park. There is certainly a lot to see and do in this beautiful part of Gods Own County.
